Varied and enriching, the initiative, which combines intercultural exchanges and educational projects, is a real bridge between two cultures. Through events, project studies and collaborations, these young people show that friendship and solidarity know no borders.
An inspiring pairing
The twinning between Fontainebleau And Siem Reap is the core of this initiative. This partnership, signed to promote cultural exchanges and strengthen friendship, has breathed new life into students from both countries. In September 2023, a unique project was launched as part of this twinning, integrating students from BTS Tourism from high school François-Couperin and the Siem Reap School of Hospitality and Tourism.
Exchanges and skills
Students had the opportunity to share their ideas, compare their cultures and work together on common projects. Emphasis was placed on creating tourist circuits illustrating the assets of Fontainebleau and Siem Reap. This cooperation has not only been an academic adventure, but also a real means of learning and developing interpersonal skills, essential in today’s world.
An enriching educational project
At the end of this school year, the students were able to present the fruit of their work to a jury. Each group, bringing together students from Fontainebleau and Siem Reap, had the mission of designing a complete trip and promoting it as a travel agency. This practical application allowed students to improve their skills in presentation, tourism marketing, as well as awareness of the environmental impact of their proposals, particularly by taking into account the carbon footprint.
Prizes and rewards
The final presentation took place in Siem Reap, with the presence of influential personalities like Paul Dubrule, founder of the Accor group and creator of the hotel management school. Students from both establishments were able not only to share their innovative ideas, but also to win prizes that recognize their commitment, creativity and dynamism. Enough to encourage them to persevere in their academic and professional career!
Beyond projects, a shared culture
The exchanges within this initiative go well beyond simple technical skills; they provide a deeper understanding of Cambodian and French culture. Each meeting, each interaction, is an opportunity to discover the traditions, habits and customs, but also the challenges facing the two countries. These exchanges are the cement of a friendship that is built day after day.
Strengthen links
As part of this initiative, the city’s twinning and international relations service played a key role in facilitating interactions between students. Their work has made it possible to create a true community of mutual aid, where young people can express their talents while strengthening bonds of friendship lasting with their Cambodian comrades.
A commitment to the future
This initiative is not limited to a simple academic experience; it lays the foundations for a long-term commitment. By learning to work and create together, students from Seine-et-Marne and Cambodia are preparing a new generation of actors of intercultural solidarity. By highlighting their respective cultures, they open the door to a richer and deeper mutual understanding, essential to building a common future.
