Every year in January, the municipality of Saint-Agrève is preparing to host a unique event: the North-South meetings. This initiative, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers and employees of the socio-cultural center The Odyssey, aims to immerse the inhabitants of the region in the heart of a different culture. For this 23e edition, it is the Vietnam which will be in the spotlight, promising an immersive and enriching journey through exhibitions, workshops and diverse activities, all in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Every year, in January, the town of Saint-Agrève prepares to host a unique event that celebrates cultural exchange and discovery. The “North-South Meetings” this time offer a great opportunity to delve into the heart of Vietnamese traditions. With a series of events planned from January 13 to February 2, residents will be invited to explore this fascinating country through various activities and workshops.
A local initiative at the heart of the Odyssey
As a symbol of solidarity and cultural sharing, this initiative is carried out by a team of volunteers and employees of the socio-cultural center The Odyssey. The aim of these meetings is to welcome a different country each year, thus allowing the inhabitants of Saint-Agrève to immerse themselves in varied cultures. This year it is Vietnam which will be in the spotlight, offering a rich and diverse panorama of the traditions and daily life of this Southeast Asian country.
A rich and varied program
For his 23e edition, the “North-South Meetings” offer a multitude of activities. From the January 14, the official launch will be with an inauguration at the socio-cultural center. From 6:30 p.m., visitors will be able to attend a opening of exhibitions which will highlight Vietnamese culture, accompanied by a discovery aperitif, free and open to all.
Fun and informative workshops
During these Meetings, participants will also have the opportunity to discover the Vietnamese calligraphy thanks to a workshop led by Seen Can, member of the MCFV. Scheduled for January 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., this workshop is accessible to adults and children aged 8 and over. Registrations are taken at the socio-cultural center for a small fee of 10 euros.
A unique experience despite the challenges
Although health constraints persist, the Saint-Agrève sociocultural center has been able to adapt to maintain this flagship event. By renewing the commitment to culture and sharing, the “North-South Meetings” continue to bring residents together around a project that promotes open-mindedness and intercultural exchange. This event is an invitation to travel without leaving your city, through the wealth of encounters and discoveries offered by the Vietnam.
