Alexandre and Cláudia, a couple of passionate adventurers, decided to travel the world by bike, starting from their hometown, Dieppe, to Vietnam. Combining their love of cycling and their commitment to protecting the environment, they find themselves immersed in an extravagant adventure that takes them through breathtaking landscapes, varied cultures and unforgettable encounters. Thanks to their YouTube platform, they share their journey while raising awareness of crucial environmental issues among their audience.
An unusual challenge
Leaving in April, Alexandre, aged 29, and Cláudia, 30, swapped the routine of their work as civil engineers in London for a major challenge: touring the world by bike. They want not only to see the world, but also to understand and act in favor of our planet. The initiative was marked by a strong commitment, advocating sustainable development and the environmental protection.
Careful preparation
Before embarking on this great adventure, the duo had to prepare carefully. While Alexandre had already completed a grand tour of Europe in 2020, Cláudia had to learn cycling. “I managed to convert her,” admits Alexandre, smiling. Together they spent weekends cycling around England, learning to enjoy the scenery while overcoming the physical challenges that cycling imposes.
Beginnings in Europe
Their adventure begins in Dieppe, a starting point full of meaning for them. On average, they travel 45 km per day, heading to destinations like Swiss and theAustria. However, the capricious weather and frequent rains in Western Europe complicate their progress. In Eastern Europe, they find themselves confronted with oppressive heat which pushes them to take on new challenges.
Wonder in Asia
After crossing the Old Continent, the couple took the plane to land in Singapore, where the discoveries in East Asia begin. “We were really excited to explore this new culture,” they express. However, they quickly realize that the climate is extremely different, with persistent humidity that they must learn to deal with. Despite this, they manage to cross the Malaysia, there Thailand and the Laos with enthusiasm.
The notable encounters
One of the most enriching aspects of their journey is the meetings that they do along the way. They discover the power of the connection created by cycling, which arouses curiosity and the warm welcome of the locals. These exchanges allow them to immerse themselves in the daily life of the inhabitants and learn more about the diversity of cultures, beliefs and lifestyles encountered.
A strong environmental message
Alexandre and Cláudia also want to use their trip to raise awareness about environmental issues. At first, they had considered planting a tree in each country they traveled through, but they quickly decided that meeting with local environmental associations would be more impactful. This approach allows them to get directly involved and explore the ecological issues specific to each region they visit. A documented adventure Their experience is both immersive and documentary. Through their YouTube channel, they share captivating videos, reflecting each step of their adventure while highlighting the actions taken for the environment. Each video ends with a section dedicated to an “environmental point” that aims to report on local initiatives in favor of nature.
